    Must See TV

Now that Mad Men season three is over I must bow down to that show. What a spectacular work of art this season was. They tied it up so nicely to end the season and give us so much to look forward to. God bless you Mr. Weiner. Everything about the show is so well thought out and planned. The writing and directing always impeccable.

Now that it’s over I’m going to need to find myself other things to watch. Here is a quick run down of whats out there that I do recommend.

Bored to Death is a very funny show. It has a very well assembled cast that fit perfectly with the writing of the show. It is based in Brooklyn which has a special place in my heart since my bebe lives there. The season is over as well so it’ll give you guys a chance to watch it in one go ;)
Obviously 30 Rock needs no introduction from me. Tina Fey is a genius who somehow has written an even funnier season than the last three. It is the only show that I really laugh out loud every time I watch it.
Our lovable serial killer Dexter is back. He is still going strong and is very unpredictable, however the writers do not know how to write romance! Plus we really don’t need these side love stories. I was slightly getting annoyed with the show till last weeks episode when the surprised us yet again. So they have my full attention.
I dunno about Californication this year. The main guy is even more obnoxious than ever. I’ve only seen the first two episodes. I’ll watch them all later when the season completes. Doubt I’m missing much.
I started V , the remake of the 80’s classic, and I’m not ready to recommend it yet. We’ll see in a few weeks.
Finally, I just saw the pilot of The Prisoner. I am Interested for sure. Still gauging how interested though. Has potential.

    Well thats it from me.

Update: I forgot to mention Modern Family. Hilarious!

    Forza Inter!

Wesly's WinnerWhat a fantastic football game yesterday. It was a roller coaster ride that took Inter from last place to first! Mourinho went all out to get us our first win in nine Champions League games. At one point the team had one central defender on the pitch, and the way Lucio was playing you’d say he was an attacking midfielder. Zanetti yesterday played every position he could. Had Inter not won yesterday it would have been truly unfair. The second half was dominant.

Wesley Schneider’s influence on the team grows more and more each week. Mario Balotelli is making it impossible for the coach to keep him on the bench. Diego Milito is the calmest player I’ve seen in an Inter jersey. To be so relaxed in front of goal for that equalizer saved the day. inter win crazyIt was impossible to sleep after the game last night. As you can tell from the quality writing that I’m still way too excited to even put in a coherent sentence.

Two weeks from now we go play Barcelona and lets hope we can carry this momentum. Its going to be a huge match up with the possibility of elimination looming on Barca’s head. Now I wonder what Zlatan would think of them apples? If we do not win, then we have a HUGE game against Rubin Kazan on the final group game. Exciting times!

Till then I’m going to bask in the wonder of last night’s win. The team is growing with each match. The injury spell is behind us and Jose can start fielding his best team from now on.

    Forza INTERNAZIONALE

    Quick Entry

I have to admit I’ve been so lazy with the blog, but its been kinda busy for me lately. Well, I’ve been keeping myself busy. Here is a quick entry.

Gabriele Marcotti writes about what it means now that Roberto Mancini is a free agent. What I like about Marcotti is that he isn’t knee jerk like a lot of the football writers out there. Here he gives great analysis as to how Mancini can affect the footballing landscape. Mancini is a good coach, and was really good with Inter. He managed a lot of big egos, he knows how to manage a league competition, and he’s done well with struggling teams before coming to Inter. Whoever gets him is going to be pleasantly surprised. Those who point to his Champions League record need to know all the factors that led to all those exits. It wasn’t all on him.

Speaking of Inter i really hope we stop this Jekyll and Hyde difference in form when we face Kiev tomorrow. Is a win too much to ask for? Please?

And now for a few laughs via Hussah:

    See you all soon.

    Rambles

Hey all I thought I needed to write something just so I could get back into the habit of writing. I’ve been neglecting my poor blog lately, for no apparent reason might I add, so I’ve decided to force myself to write today.

    • I’ve changed the look and feel of the blog. I just found this new layout and decided to go with it. Though I don’t like the fact that I can only put my widgets on the top (which as you can see ends up cutting them off prematurely). If anyone knows how to properly use html and wants to hook me up with a solution please contact me. Oh, and let me know if you like this format or the old one.
    • There are a couple of seminar’s coming up to discuss the way in which Kuwait is losing all its freedoms, and its progression to the extreme right. Tonight’s seminar is titled  Censorship Protects Ignorance. Tomorrow’s will be talking about the new Fatwa from the Awqaf Ministry on the Veil (head scarf) and what the Parliamentary committee deems appropriate behavior for our nation. Like I’ve said many times before we are the only democracy that reduces freedoms instead of increasing them!
    • In my gang there has been a big debate lately about how to move forward in the very important issue of FIFA 10 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. It’s a tough question since both games have their positive and their negatives. Game play, graphics, league set up and many more is being discussed. Now normally you would say let each person pick what ever game they like. However, when you need to play against each other there needs to be consensus for such issue. I’m still not sure which way to go as I havent played either yet. So stay tuned for the important update regarding this pressing issue.
    • There is a new show on HBO that is a lot of fun to watch: Bored to Death. It is very funny. I think we can all relate to wanting something exciting in our mundane lives.
    • Mad Men is amazing!

Well thanks for tuning in. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings today.

    Recap of the Past Month

Its been a while folks since I last blogged and a lot has happened since then. I’ve been on twelve different airplanes and visited three different cities. Been through four different time zones during those trips. I’ve seen four movies, a Mexican wrestling (Lucha Vavoom) match, and a performance (Fuerza Bruta). I’ve been to a fantastic wedding in Amman where a very good looking couple got married and everyone was dancing. Had a beautiful day in the Brooklyn waterfront park over looking the entire Manhattan skyline. And so much more.

All these trips have given me time to reflect on my long term future in Kuwait. What is it I wanna do? It’s about time to think of the next step.

    Details to follow…

    Champions League: Inter vs. Barcelona

    45 years and counting

    45 years and counting

After a long wait the big game is upon us. Okay so it’s only the first game of the Champions League season but its been a long wait since we got dumped out of the competition last season. And I will be the first to admit Inter has sucked in this competition for 45 years. 45! That is crazy considering we had won it back to back and were playing the final to become the first team in history to win the European Cup three times. Since then its been a lot of near misses and spectacular disasters. I still love this competition though and I love the Inter squad that Moratti and Mourinho have assembled this year and will remain optimistic that we will go far and we will be protagonist in this competition.

No better way for Inter to start off the competition than against the reigning champions. A team that has been playing together for several years now and has its own culture of playing the game. Barcelona plays the best looking football in the world right now and the type of football all teams aspire to achieve. They hold on to possession, pass you to death and create chance after chance till they score. Then score, then score some more. They’ve built the team from the youth system and have added a few players here and there just to complete the setup. This year they’ve added only two players who happen to be ex-Inter players; Maxwell and Ibrahimovic.

This game has tons of plot lines to make it that much more juicy than the line-ups and history of the teams already suggest.

Carry us to the promised land

Carry us to the promised land

    • The Return of Ibra: By now we all know the circumstances in which Zlatan Ibrahimovic left us and all the things hes said about us since he’s left. Ungrateful. However we did get Eto’o and 50 million Euros that paid for Lucio, Motta, Schneider and Milito. So basically thanks Ibra and hope you have a good time in Spain. There has been a huge Internet debate as to how the Inter fans should treat him during the game. I personally am siding with the indifference argument as a man with his ego will be hurt more by silence than booing.
    • The Champions League Debut of Diego Milito: Can you believe that a player of the quality and class of Diego Milito has never played in the Champions League? Well what better game to show what the world has been missing than this one. Since his arrival he has been such a pleasant surprise. He is the anit-Ibra; selfless, modest, hard working and a genuinely nice person. This isn’t to say I didn’t like Zlatan, but this guy is the complete opposite. His understanding with Eto’o and Balotelli has been quick and he is fun to watch.
    • Points to Prove: Eto’o, Ibrahimovic, Schneider. These three all have certain points they wanna prove to the world. Ibrahimovic wants to one up Inter and show them that he is in a team that plays his vision of football, and that he can play on the biggest stage. Eto’o want to show Barcelona that they made a huge mistake letting him go. All the quotes you here from his former teammates is that they were shocked he was sold. The guy was clutch in the biggest games, scored in said games yet was still let go. Not only was he let go he was included in a transfer that made it seem his value was not that of a guy who just scored in both their last two CL finals. Wesley Schneider will be playing with a chip on his shoulder all season to prove to Real Madrid that they have no idea what they are doing. They let go of a star and he will show them what he could do to their biggest rival. Can’t wait to see what he does.

The line-up has been announced by Mourinho in yesterdays meeting: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu; Zanetti, Stankovic (or Muntari), Motta; Schneider; Eto’o, Milito. That is the A+ squad. Cambiasso on the bench will give a huge boost to the team as to me he is the most intelligent player we have and his importance to the team is immense. Balotelli will definitely get a chance to play in this game at some point especially after his influential performance against Parma.

    120522

    Points to prove

Inter and Barca have had a great relationship in recent times. Massimo Moratti and Joan Laporta have had a great relationship. Business between the two clubs is always smooth and I hope it stays that way. I also hope we put in a performance that will make the rest of Europe rise up and notice.

    Forza Inter!

    Inter v. Parma

    120421

    The Dream Team

Finally the international break is over and we can get back to watching real football for a change. This break felt like it was forever especially since I was travelling during the last two weeks, and was only able to watch the first half of the Milan derby. Today will be the first time I can watch Inter properly with this fantastic squad Moratti has assembled for us. Today is a tricky situation as the main job of Mourinho is to keep the players focused on Parma and not on Barca. The result will show how focused the boys are and I’m sure they will be as they are a group of professionals who have been there and done that.

    Likely Formation: 4-3-1-2

Julio Cesar; Maicon Lucio Samuel Santon; Zanetti Viera Motta; Sneijder; Eto’o Balotelli

I think Inter has all the tools to win this game. We will be looking to get into the best form before the Barcelona game coming up and so a smooth ride here today is what we need. Parma isn’t a push over by any means. They’ve had a good start to the season so far and are looking like this seasons surprise package. They have a nice blend of youth and experience and are playing with confidence. However, I think Inter has to remind them who the Seria A  Champions are and will get a nice win in the end.

Also make sure to check out Genoa v Napoli tonight. It should be a great game.

    Cool Link

Found this really cool site to help you out in times of need during the movie. This site gives you the exact times you can run out of the movie theater and have a quick bathroom break without losing the plot. Obviously this wont work in Kuwait since our fine Ministry of Information has its own ideas on how movies should be.
